SydPy May Meetup
5:30 pm – 7:30 pm · Free · Meetup · Sydney Python Meetup
Learn how beginners grasp Python through a visual robot teacher, then explore simulations mapping dead stars across the galaxy.
Chippendale · Chippendale, NSW
Alison Wong from The University of Sydney will walk through how beginners actually learn to code using Karel the Robot, a visual grid-world environment where you can watch your Python execute step by step. Then David Sweeney, a postdoc at Sydney Uni's School of Physics, will show you how he built Python simulations to map neutron stars and black holes across the galaxy, plus demonstrate interactive microlensing tools. You'll get two very different looks at what Python can do, from foundational learning to actual research applications, plus pizza and a chance to meet other people learning and building with Python.
