Gen AI and the Climate: How Many Water Bottles Does It Take to Save the World?

Chris's take

Panel exploring AI's environmental cost with climate experts — you'll leave knowing the real trade-offs between innovation and sustainability.

About the eventFrom the organiser

This workshop examines the environmental paradox of generative AI: while AI tools like ChatGPT consume significant water and energy resources, they also offer potential for rapid climate solutions. Participants will learn about AI's environmental costs, explore how AI is currently being applied to climate action, and discover the accessibility barriers to climate technology development. The session includes hands-on "vibe coding" where attendees will collaboratively build a functional food waste tracker using plain English descriptions, requiring no prior coding experience.
